Description

This was the second target on November 29th. Please see my notes on the [Triangulum Galaxy](http://www.astrobin.com/139088/B/) photo regarding the framing.

It's nice to get back to Orion again. Looking forward to trying other targets there with the Esprit 80ED.

Version A is the entire shot (less a little edge cropping). Version B is cropped to center the nebulae.

Versions C and D use a new set of darks and flats generated using an iPad as the illumination source. I also pushed the stretching more on these two versions, used the LCE tool, and compensated with the vertical band NR tool in Photoshop.

Version E is my first attempt at using PixInsight for post-processing. The DSS stack looked better than the PI stack, so I used the DSS stack. PI pushed the stretching harder than I would have done manually in PS, so the flaws / noise are more visible than I would like - but the overall brightness and color were better. I had to do Vertical Banding Noise removal in PS as a final step after PI. Still not sure if I will go with PI long term or not. I have about 5 weeks left on my trial license.

Version F: Did a better job of color calibration in PI and got a nice orange hue to the Flame (wish I could remember how I did that though...)

Version G: Getting better at reducing star bloat in PI via range masks and other noise via luminance masks.

Thanks for looking!
